The South Asia Libraries Working Group was founded in 2021 with the aim of promoting cooperation and networking between libraries in German-speaking countries that collect materials from and about the South Asia region. It sees itself as an open forum for the exchange of information on library and South Asian studies issues such as the collection of catalogue data in original and transcribed versions, access to online resources and much more. The working group is also open to people who do not work in South Asia-related libraries, but who have an interest in these issues through their academic teaching and research activities. Meetings take place twice a year and are currently organised online.

Membership of the working group is free. Members from the participating institutions volunteer to take on tasks as they arise.
